Leaving Atlassian Data Center with regulated records
Atlassian is ending Data Center. If your test evidence, training records or signed documents live in Data Center apps, the move to Cloud has a fixed timeline. Here are the dates, what to check before you move a regulated process, and how to keep your old records usable.
The dates
- 30 March 2026: Data Center is no longer sold to new customers, and neither are new Marketplace Data Center apps.
- 30 March 2028: last day for existing customers to buy, expand or upgrade, Marketplace Data Center apps included. Renewals remain possible until the end of life.
- 28 March 2029: end of life. Subscriptions expire, technical support and critical security fixes end, and Data Center products and their Marketplace apps become read-only.
A read-only system still shows your old records, but nobody can add to them or correct them. Plan the move of each regulated process well before that date, with time left to validate the new one.
Check each app before you move
Atlassian’s migration tools move your Jira and Confluence data. Apps are different: each vendor decides whether there is a Cloud version and what can be migrated. For every app that holds regulated records, check five things.
- Is there a Cloud version? Look at the hosting options on the app’s Atlassian Marketplace page. Some Data Center apps have no Cloud version.
- Do the records move, or only the settings? Ask the vendor whether past results, signatures and confirmations are migrated, and in which form.
- What happens to signatures? An electronic signature belongs to the system that captured it. Decide whether old signed records stay in an archive with their audit trail, and how you will show them to an auditor.
- Where does the data live? A Cloud app either runs on Atlassian’s own infrastructure or sends data to the vendor’s servers. For regulated records, know which, and note it in your supplier assessment.
- Validate again for your intended use. A new system needs its own validation: requirements, risk assessment, test scripts and a report.
Keep your old records usable
Before the switch, export what you may have to show later: test runs and their results, read confirmations, approval records, with names and dates. Store them as PDF or CSV in a controlled location, with a short note that says where they come from and how they were exported. Keep the read-only Data Center system for as long as you can, as a second source.
Clearlane apps for Cloud
Clearlane apps are built for Jira Cloud and Confluence Cloud only. They run on Atlassian: your data stays in your Atlassian site.
- Clearlane Tests: test cases, step-by-step runs, a traceability matrix and signed campaign reports in Jira. It imports test cases from CSV.
- Clearlane Read & Understood: read confirmations on Confluence page versions, optional quizzes and PDF training records.
- Clearlane Controlled Documents: approvals with electronic signatures bound to the page content, periodic reviews and an audit trail.
- Clearlane CAPA: corrective and preventive actions on any Jira work item, with a signed plan and an effectiveness check.
- Clearlane Risk Register: a risk register per Jira project with ISO 14971 and FMEA templates, inherent and residual risk and signed periodic reviews.
For your validation file, our validation page describes the intended use of each app and offers OQ test scripts you can reuse.
