Clearlane Answers brings questions and answers into Confluence. People ask in seconds, colleagues answer, the best answer rises to the top, and the next person with the same question finds it in Confluence search.

How it works

Choose Ask a question, pick a space, write one clear sentence and add topics. The question becomes a Confluence page under “Questions” in that space. Answers are comments on that page. Nothing is hidden in a separate database.

Why real pages and comments matter

• Search: Confluence search finds the words in questions and in answers, and so does the app’s own search.
• Notifications: people watching a question are told about new answers, and mentions work as usual.
• Permissions: who can read, ask and answer follows the space permissions you already have.
• No lock-in: export, back up or move questions like any other page. If you stop using the app, every question and answer stays.

The best answer on top

• “I have this question too” shows which questions matter to the most people.
• Colleagues mark answers as helpful. The person who asked, the topic experts and space administrators can accept the answer that worked.
• Each question shows at a glance whether it has no answer yet, is open, or is resolved.

Asked before? You will know

While someone types a question, similar questions appear with their status and number of answers, so the answer is found before the question is asked twice.

Topics and experts

Space administrators list the topics people ask about and name experts for each. Experts are mentioned on new questions of their topics, so Confluence notifies them. Topics can be open to everyone or limited to the list.

A home for every question

• A page for the whole site and one for each space, with search, filters and sorting by newest, most asked or recent activity.
• At a glance: questions waiting for an answer, share resolved and the typical time to a first answer.
• Top helpers of the month, to thank the people who answer.

Permissions and data

The app runs on Atlassian Forge (Runs on Atlassian). Questions and answers are your Confluence pages and comments. The app adds a small record to each question page (status, votes, answer count and who marked what as helpful, by Atlassian account ID), and keeps each space’s topics and experts in Atlassian’s storage for your site. Nothing is sent to our servers or to anyone else.

In Confluence’s apps menu for the whole site, and in each space’s apps for that space. Topics and experts are in the space settings.

Who can ask and answer?

Anyone who can add pages in the space can ask, and anyone who can comment can answer.

Does it work in French?

Yes. The app follows each person’s Confluence language, in English or French, in light and dark themes.
