How to find outdated pages in Confluence

Every Confluence space collects pages nobody trusts any more. The problem is not that pages age; it is that nobody can tell which ones still hold. Here is a simple routine that keeps a space trustworthy.

Decide what “out of date” means for you

A how-to for a tool that changes monthly goes stale in three months. A company policy may stay right for two years. Pick one review window per space: three months, six months, a year or two years.

Find the pages past their window

Confluence shows when each page was last edited, but not whether someone checked it and found it still right. Editing a correct page just to “touch” it adds noise to its history. What you need is a way to confirm a page is still accurate without editing it.

A routine that takes minutes

1. Once a month, list the pages past the window, oldest first.
2. For each one, the owner either confirms it is still accurate, updates it, or archives it.
3. Pages that nobody can vouch for are the ones to archive first.

Doing it in Confluence
